yet, another reminder.

... that we really need to live life keeping in mind that
what we do will be the best shot we'll give
stemming from a heart of sincerity

and how our lives are shaped by our thoughts.

positive or negative

the choice is ours.

don't end up wasting your final breaths completing the I-should-haves.

do what you love, cherish your loved ones, and never stop loving.

splurge on good food with great people - occasionally,
take some time off. go sight-seeing. : )

love life and the moments in between.

oui!

Pavarotti, Luciano

You don't need any brains to listen to music.

but... I guess this varies when it comes to which kind of music we're listening to and with what purpose the music serves as.
what's the point of listening without comprehending? or should the quote be modified to 'You don't need any brains to hear music'? makes sense, no?

nevertheless, it is a totally different situation when we treat music as a tool to unwind, and just empty the mind of all the clutter. haha. and that IS what most stressed out people need, eh? : )

what we shouldn't be proud of doing.

(image obtained from malaysiakini.com)

If they keep on tearing down structures or buildings, even though they are labelled as
'things not worth treasuring'
how will the Malaysian heritage/history be preserved?

The mural painters must be heart-broken.

What a waste!

details explained HERE.

the problem with grey matter.

Wiesel, Elie

No human race is superior; no religious faith is inferior. All collective judgments are wrong. Only racists make them.
Nailed it, right in the face!
Sometimes we are so ego-centric. We care about ourselves more than anything else. We think of what will happen to us first before what it will bring to others. We 'cari pasal' thinking that we're better at doing something than anyone else. And we say 'If it weren't for so and so, this wouldn't have happened!', just to justify our actions. We frequently say all the do-unto-others-what-you-would-have-others-done-unto-yous and talk about so and so being otherwise.

A piece of dirty, soiled linen criticizing another soiled linen with a little spot of black ink.

Needless to say, we're all dirty linens underneath; we just happen to wear a  spotless cotton sheet, changed daily if we're humble enough to wash with plentiful doses of bleach called 'self-evaluation'.

times when three equals to one.

indeed. pages of books do smell good. kind of addictive. well yeah, took three days to finish a five hundred pager, describing a day's events and misfortunes. I salute Dan Brown.
it is very true that books take you anywhere around the world, even to Timbuktu. some take you to extraterrestrial regions where your imagination roams free; others take you back to the 19th and 20th century during The Great Depression and the Industrial Revolution. you'd be amazed how hard ingenious criminals plan, months ahead, to rob gold worth billions of pounds in a train, or how terrible things can go wrong when a space shuttle's return carrying bacteria from outer space kills a town-full of people. sometimes even those whom you called dearest could plan your death whilst holidaying in an Oriental Express, without you suspecting they loathed you so much. impressive nonetheless.

a scene in Dickens' Hard Times. from a chapter:Starlight.

what matters is not only the joy of having finished reading something, but also the things you discover, insights you have gained along the way.

Until then, savour the scent of newspapers, magazines or novels whatsoever!
buhbye!

some not-looney-at-all tunes. this. and this.

pulau ketam day trip 6/1/10

And so there were 7 of us.

we alighted at Subang Jaya station to wait for 2 other friends before heading to Port Klang.

arrived at the terminal and found that the day was perfectly sunny ; perfect for photo-taking but bad for the skin.

Pulau Ketam Jetty.

different shades of blue : sky, hut, boat, sea

abandoned house?

introducing our guide-of-the-day.

along the main 'street'

houses. all blue.

take us where you lead.

fishing village.

nets and bicycles : the must-haves?

lost and not-willing-to-be-found ?

we walked, and walked. a co-guide came along.

wondered how it felt like to study on a very very quiet island. practically the whole island supports itself on mud and concrete. pretty astounding heh?

yes they've got lots of dogs, tagged or untagged.

getting excited about the ATM at the only bank there.

wooden walkway to each of the houses. looks unstable but it felt fine.

two girls looking at candies just after school. we just had lunch.

still walking.

went to a workshop where boats are built.

two bows.

sheesh. wrong focus. haha.

Noah's Ark?

Had ice shavings before heading back to the jetty. seen here are students boarding a boat full of their friends.

Till then, byebye!

What has a language got to do with a religion? You might wonder. It's embarrassing to see how people are so sensitive and easily agitated by the very little things, even something so personal like one's religion. Yeah it's true Malaysia has been getting unwanted attention for all the wrong reasons.

The main battle field for good is not the open ground of the public arena but the small clearing of each heart.

five for fighting.

feeling fenced out?

Thought of the week: It's surprising to have heard that so far none has been able to obtain band 6 in Muet (not sure of other schools though). I've gotten a five. The cause: A drop in standard/stricter examiners/tougher questions?

Went for the school's Annual Jogathon yesterday morning at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa where we jogged about 2.5 km or so. It was good, quite comforting to know that you're finally exercizing and eliminating accumulated toxin. Will be going for another run tomorrow morning near Times Square. It's also good to know your muscles aren't in much pain now, so tomorrow would be quite alright. Fingers crossed.

Well, I don't know... Sometimes it does feel like you're left alone wandering, in school or out, till the silence strikes and makes you wander even further - a world of your own. Exams are traumatizing, yes we all know. You might think that, well, 3-4 months... I'll manage to cram 1 1/2 years' syllabus and gear up for what's to come, but... there's always a thought fighting to surface, wanting you to acknowledge that time's running short and whatever that's done and passed can't be undone and relived, and it's better to buck up and be serious once and for all.
That particular 'drive' you can't seem to tap into; the 'agony' of having to remind yourself the need to revise and practise. Dreadful... but a phase that has to be overcome.

Nobody said it was easy; no one ever said it would be this hard. Too bad we can't take ourselves back to the start.

Rest well, friends.

scratch and dent run

Wouldn't like to relive Apr twenty-seventh.
walked over to the car with mom waiting inside. it was just after 1pm.
was in reverse gear. backed the car whilst manoeuvering the steering.
one mistake: did not check whether there are any obstructions surrounding the area.
Car was out. Well, almost.
since it's parked in a slanting manner, I thought there'd be enough space for a Kembara.
But then again, I thought the road was clear, so I promptly decided to go for a 'straight out' reverse.
just when I thought it'd be okay.... c r a s h. then came that faint b e e p from the sensor.

Earlier the entire class was badly annoyed when PK1 entered our class without hesitation or fear of interrupting our lesson.
Asked us if the air conditioner was on. No answer because we expected PK1'd just blast us for wasting electricity since the students do not need air-con during lessons because other classes do not have air-cons.
Then came the accusation that we found 'Ways' to unlock the second switch box to switch on the air-con because PK1 was sure that the air-con will not function if the second switch wasn't switched on when what we only did was to press the green button of the first switch. Plus, we did switch off after class. Still, we were blamed for our 'irrational' behaviour.
So much for installing unusable aged appliances in stuffy classrooms. And No,we did not switch on the air-con.

Enough said. We are still pissed.(pardon me)
That was part of the story leading to the crash, by the way.

Muet next Tuesday morning.
Until then,
Wish us luck.

points to ponder.

unclogging the grey matter.

"do what makes you happy. smile as often as you can. laugh as much as you breathe. love as long as you live."

you'll never know what your mind is capable of... unless you put in effort.

"happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder..." - Thoreau. (being too self-conscious is not a good thing.)

do spend some of your time to do some 'stock-taking'. what lies within?

(none) updated.

life can be just like this paper. you get sprayed. through obstacles. trials and errors. challenges. and well, from God. sometimes they all hurt. sometimes they come and go without us even noticing. we just get sprayed. layer by layer till we're all smooth and shiny. and sometimes, we can see something else within ourselves, that, we're actually influencing the people around us as well. our actions. our thoughts ( spoken, of course ). our words. and every other thing.

some of the outcomes may look like this. those being influenced by wise actions. clear thinking. and kind words to others. we just don't realise that people observe people. we're either being influenced or are the centre of influence.

here are two of the pictures i took after the decoration prep. really really liked them, this round. lots of effort put into it. yet, without the helping hands of the 'ground' members in youth, these wouldn't even be here to have their pictures taken. easter programme - next saturday.

the orthodontic clinic text-ed me to remind me to come on time, 11am, on monday. probably won't be going.

next week will be a busy week. with good friday and easter sunday. three consecutive visits to church. eh?

take care. to those off to national service. mingwai to kelantan. yee teng to pahang. jun yan to sabah (i think). and others who are involved as well. have a blast, then. will miss you a lot.

guten nacht.

Quarta-feira.

translation : Portuguese for Wednesday.

half looking forward to it *that's because I'll be meeting my amigos - friends - whom I've really missed since last year's grueling exams...
not really dreading it *since I can only wait for the verdict...
I was wondering, it's only a piece of faxed-over paper from the lembaga peperiksaan. and all this time we've been waiting, and waiting, waiting for the number-letter 'combo' behind the 11 (or so) subjects we've taken. and that's it... Every thing's gonna be like any other day *except for the 'additional' feelings, including :
"yeay, finally I got what I've been studying like mad for." , or
"hmph, how can they do this to me?" , or even
"gah, it's only what the gov ordered the teachers to do - giving us higher grades. not worth celebrating either.hmph..."
* * *
anyway, whatever happens, live with it lah... it's not the end of the world and all...
like what I've already posted (if you're observant) : "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end."

that's all for now. and thanks for coming over here, the readers, I'm referring to you lah...
Adeus! (also in Portuguese)
